One of These Things is Not Like the Others...

Do you remember that song from Sesame Street?  I watch Sesame Street with my little ones almost every day, and while there's still lots of great stuff on the show, I miss the golden oldies from when I was little!  Anyway, everytime I look at the project I have to share with you today, I think of that song and it brings me back to being little!  Have a look...

This is the final frame project of the countdown.  It's SUPER easy, but I get a LOT of wow comments on it.  The best part is that you can do this same project with lots of different kinds of punches...I've done it with the Ornament, 5-Petal Flower, Snowflakes...the possibilities are endless!

With every one of these types of frame projects I've done, I've always made one of the punched shapes a little different.  Like this one...

I took one of the hearts and mounted it on one of the FABULOUS Scallop Heart of Hearts!!!  Then I added a button with some linen thread.  The whole thing is popped up with some Stampin' Dimensionals.  So cute!

Set the Mood...

Today I have a project that can help set the mood!!!

I got the candle holder from Party Lite.  There's two tubes of glass that fit one inside the other and it comes with an insert to go between the two tubes of glass.  Let me tell you, my friends, the insert it comes with is kind of ugly...although they do have other options for inserts!  But, I saw HUGE potential, so I bought it (and the bigger one too!).

For the purposes of the countdown, I decided to go with a Valentine's theme and punched hearts from some of the Decor Sheets (Real Red, Pretty In Pink, Clear & Rose Red).  Then I peeled the backing off and stuck them on the glass!  I love how this turned out.  To finish it off, I tied a piece of the Polka Dot Real Red ribbon (my spook has been feeling neglected since Christmas!!) around the top and then attached a little tag I made.  To make the tag I cut out a heart (from that AWESOME embosslit in the mini...Scalloped Heart of Hearts) and layered it with a punched Real Red heart (Full Heart punch).  To add a little something to jazz up the tag a bit, I stamped the smallest heart from I {Heart} Hearts with Real Red on Very Vanilla, punched it out with the new heart punch in the mini and put it on with a Stampin' Dimensional.  Here's another view from the side.

You get a good look at the hearts from this view!  And, here's another view ina darker spot so you can see the "mood setting" effect!!!

I love the heart shadows it makes!  The best part is that after Valentine's Day, I can easily peel the hearts off, untie the ribbon and totally change my candle holder for the next season or occasion!  Love it!!!

Family

I think Valentine's Day is a celebration of love.  Not just your husband/wife, siginificant other, boyfriend/girlfriend, etc, but a day to celebrate everyone you love.  And, I love my family, so today's project is about them. 

This is my third and final project using the Love U Decor Stencils for the countdown!  These stencils are so versatile and easy to use.  I will definitely be using them a lot in the future!  The background of my project is Kraft cardstock (of course...*wink*) stenciled with the Love U stencils in Chocolate Chip and Real Red ink. 

Then I layered some cardstock and Sending Love DSP to frame my picture.  Incidently, my picture is attached with Dotto so I can easily take it out and put a different one in if I want!  I finished off the inside with a piece of the awesome Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon.  Once everything was in the frame, I finished off the project with some vinyl!  I used some of the Clear Decor Sheets and cut the letters to spell family with the Big Shot.  The dot on the "i" was punched out with the new heart punch in the Occasions Mini.  Once cut, the letters were applied just like you would apply Decor Elements.  I chose the clear so that the emphasis was on what was inside the frame, but there was still that little something on the outside to catch your attention.  I have my framed art hanging between two windows and sometimes, depending where the sun is, the family shows up really well and clear and sometimes it's just a faint word that you have to get close to read!

I'm thrilled with the way this project ended up!  I love it when I think of a project and it totally works out in real life!

Resist Heart

Today for the countdown and Simple Card Sunday I have a wonderful card to share with you!

Supplies:  En Francais & Well Scripted stamps; Mellow Moss, Pretty In Pink & Basic Gray classic ink; Versamark; Love U Decor Stencils; Stampin' Sponges; Pretty In Pink Taffeta Ribbon; Scallop Edge Punch; Mat Pack  & Paper Piercing Tool; Stampin' Emboss Powder-Crystal Clear

The technique I did on the top part of this card is the Emboss Resist technique.  I started by stamping the En Francais background stamp with Basic Gray and then embossed the heart with clear embossing powder over top it.  To make the heart show up better, I sponged Mellow Moss and then Pretty In Pink classic ink around it.  The heart I used is from the Love U Decor Stencils.

The bottom half of the card is fairly simple and straight forward.  I punched along one edge of the Basic Gray cardstock with the Scallop Edge punch and then pierced a hole in each scallop.  I finished if off by tieing a piece of Pretty In Pink Taffeta Ribbon around it and then stamping my sentiment.

Valentine Tradition

Happy Scrapbook Saturday!  For today's Valentine Countdown project I have a great scrapbook layout for you.  Now, it's not completely done yet, because I need to take the pictures for it next week on Valentine's Day.  But, I will show you what it looks like so far with the promise that I will show you the finished pages next week after Valentine's Day.

So, do you have a special tradition for Valentine's Day?  Kevin and I have been together for 15 years and we have a special tradition that we do almost every Valentine's Day.  In fact, I think we've only missed 3 or 4 years out of 15!  Are you wondering what our tradition is?  Every year on Valentine's Day, Boston Pizza sells heart shaped pizzas and donates money from each pizza sold to charity.  When we were dating in High School, we started going for heart pizza on Valentine's Day and just kept going every year.  We always take the kids with us for heart pizza...heart pizza was Taylor's first outing (besides going to the doctor!) when he was born 8 years ago, and Kevin brought me heart pizza in the hospital when Sawyer was born 3 years ago!  As I was looking through our scrapbooks, I couldn't believe I hadn't scrapbooked this important and fun tradition in our family.  So, without further adieu...

The base of my pages is Kraft cardstock stenciled with the new Love U Decor Stencils in Chocolate Chip and Real Red ink.  You can find these stencils in the new Definitely Decorative brochure (if you're Canadian and you haven't got your brochure yet, let me know and I can send you one!).  I *heart* these little stencils and I'm thrilled that there's a couple sets of stencils that are smaller in size so they can be easily used on lots of projects...like cards, scrapbook pages, fabric, wood, walls, gift boxes, gift bags, tags and more!

The title is done with the Big Shot and some of the Alphabet dies.  I love mixing fonts for my titles and the variety of alphabet dies Stampin' Up! carries makes this easy for me to accomplish!

Here's a closer look at some of the accents I've done for my layout.  I did my accents using the SU Hearts & Brackets die and the new Epoxy Brads.  Have you checked out those Epoxy Brads yet?  You need to check them out and add them to your collection...they're awesome! *grin*
