Best Of...Congratulations

Wedding season is sneaking up on us, so it's good to be prepared with some quick and easy wedding cards.  The Best of Love set is perfect for helping with the need for quick and cute wedding cards.

It's hard to see in the picture, but I stamped the heart from the Best of Love set with Pink Pirouette ink on the Pink Pirouette cardstock.  Then I finished off the card with some of the luscious Basic Gray ribbon from the Spring Catalog.  For a little visual interest I tied a button onto the ribbon with some Whisper White Baker's Twine.  I love tying my buttons into ribbon...quick, easy and no adhesive required! 

This is a perfect quick and easy wedding card and you can change up the colors easily to match the wedding colors.  I think it would also make a great engagement card, congrats your pregnant card or even a baby card.

I Am...Loving Simple Cards!

Today's card brings simple to a whole new level!

I can't take credit for this one.  I pretty much copied it right from Allison's card!  Remember I was telling you how I did a Bridal Shower a couple weeks ago?  Well, Allison did a shower in Calgary for the same bride.  The Calgary shower was first, so I did some of the same things as Allison did just to keep things between the showers similar.  This was one of those things!  A simple 3x3 card that each shower guest made and then wrote a little note to the bride in.  I put all these notes in with the Bride's gifts!

It's a 3x3 Whisper White card base which was stamped with a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Tempting Turquoise (one of the wedding colors!).  The butterfly was stamped with VersaMark on Tempting Turquoise cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder.  I had the guests punch out their butterflies and stick them to the front of the cards.  Super cute, super simple and I think a great keepsake for the Bride!

I Got Inked!

You all are thinking I got a tattoo, right?!?!?  Don't worry mom...it's not what you think!!!

Last weekend I did a Stampin' Bridal Shower and it was a blast!  I got super inky fingers at the shower.  I always tell my girls you haven't had enough fun if you don't leave with inky fingers...so I guess based on my fingers, I had a blast!!!

Rather than the bride getting traditional gifts like towels and cookie sheets, she got stamping stuff.  All the guests either placed an order for her or just gave her money and then she went shopping in the catalog.  And, let me tell you, she got a pretty nice shopping trip as well as some fantastic hostess rewards!!!

All the guests got to make two projects as well as a fun little project which will be given to the bride (I will show you that one tomorrow).  Today, I'm going to show you the mini book they all made.

I got a look at her invitation before hand, so I knew her colors and knew she loves butterflies!  I stuck with her colors and they all made mini albums out of Scallop Envelopes.  Here's a look at the pages (ignore the nasty looking tops...I made my sample and glued it all together and then got the idea that I should have each page displayed individually for them...so I ripped it all apart!).

You can click on the picture to make it bigger and see the details better.  I used the Reason to Smile set (have you got your $5 set yet???), the butterflies embosslit and some other fun embellishments (you can't have a mini album without rhinestones, buttons and ribbon...right?).

I purposely made it really simple and left lots of space for pictures and journaling on the pages.

Wedding Party

I recently participated in an AMAZING Occasions Mini and Sale-A-Bration swap with some demonstrator friends.  The Sale-a-Bration set I chose was Party This Way...a birthday set.  I'm really not sure what I was thinking when I chose that set!!!  The set is very birthday, so I decided to do something not birthday with it.  I chose to use the banner stamp from the set along with the new wedding wheel in the Occasions Mini and this is what I came up with.

I just love the color combination of Bravo Burgundy and Crumb Cake!  The wheel is simply stamped across the Crumb Cake layer...it makes a great background!  The banners were stamped with Bravo Burgundy ink on Bravo Burgundy cardstock and then punched out with the Pennant punch.  I also punched out plain triangle pennants from Vellum Cardstock.  To jazz them up a bit I added little punched flowers with pearls in the middle.  Each of the three pennants are stuck onto the card separately and then I glue little bows, made form the Whisper White Baker's Twine, where each pennant met.

I used a LOT of dimensionals on this card!  Each pennant has one and then the Whisper White layer is also popped up with them!  Here's a look at the dimension.

Simple Wedding

What happens when you're super busy prepping for a huge demo, it's 10 o'clock at night and your husband comes into your office and says, "I need a card for that wedding I'm going to this weekend.  I don't know their colors or anything."?  A very quick and simple, but pretty wedding card is born...and you tell your husband he's lucky to have a wife like you!!!

I started with a Soft Suede base (to make a 5x5 card).  I added a layer of Baja Breeze cardstock, which I sponged the edges, stamped an image from the Wedding Sweet set (stamped in Baja Breeze) and smooched it with Vanilla Smooch Spritz.  I added a layer of vellum cardstock, tore the bottom and stamped Congratulations on it with Soft Suede ink.  To hide my adhesive, I added a fabulous Soft Suede striped ribbon.  Rather than making a knot or bow, I secured the ends together with an Antique Brad.

Love

Despite making all those favours for my cousin's wedding, at the last minute, I came up with a super cool present idea.

I have a "thing" for frame art!  When I found this frame, fireworks went off in my head and I knew I had to get it for them.  I instantly had an idea and I'm excited that it came out exactly how I pictured it when I first saw the frame!

In my vision, they will put bride and groom pictures on either side of the love!

And, in true Lisa fashion, I had to make the card to match!  Actually I just loved how the frame turned out and I already had all the supplies out!!!

One last thing about the project...Silver Foli Smooch Spritz looks GORGEOUS on Basic Gray cardstock.  Try it...you'll love it!

Me and my 3 handsome dates for the event.  Kevin couldn't get the time off work, so he wasn't able to join us!

The favours were set out at a Candy Bar, which my children thought was the best thing ever (besides the slurpee machines and the fresh popcorn during the cocktail hour...which were both endless!).  Here's my mom supervising the kids at the candy bar.  Taylor and Carter are kind of hiding behind the table decor on the right side of the picture.

Seriously, their eyes were as wide as saucers when they found out they could pick a box and FILL it with whatever kind of candy they wanted as many times as they wanted (or twice because that's all I let them!!!).

500

500  is a lot...let me tell you, when you actually see 500 of something it's HUGE!  Especially when it's wedding favors!  For the past couple months I've been working on 500 wedding favors for my cousin's wedding.  My Big Shot arm is hurtin' and I think the muscles are now bigger in that arm than the other, my fingers have been sticky, I think I can now say I'm an expert at tieing knots and my fingers hurt from tieing that many knots, but they're finally finished!  YAHOO!!!!!

I'm really excited for how they turned out.  They are super cute, yet elegant!  I can't wait to see them on the tables for everyone at the wedding.  They're having a Candy Bar, so we can all fill our little boxes with whatever kind of candy we want.  Fun!  I know my boys are going to LOVE that!!!

Blowin' in the Wind

So, spring in Lethbridge means lots of wind.  And, I mean lots!  Wanna know how windy?  Check this out...

Yes, that sign blew over and yes, those two things sticking up are CEMENT things, that are usually in parking lots, that were holding the sign in place!  CRAZY!!!!  I drive through this intersection about five million times a day (well, not that many, but some days it certainly feels like it!) and this is the second time this spring I've seen that sign laying down because of the wind.  We've had wind warnings the last few days and we go to bed at night listening to the howling of the wind hoping that all our siding and shingles will still be on our house in the morning!!!!!  And, knock on wood, so far all is good at our house except for the tiles in our patio table!  But I've seen lots of pieces of siding and other building materials blowing around the neighborhood the last little while!

I've been busy doing wedding stuff the last little while.  My cousin is getting married and I've been comissioned to make favours...500 of them!!!  I'll show you those when they've decided on a design.  I also had a customer's daughter wanting to make her own invites.  The bride, three of her bridesmaids, her mom and future mother-in-law all came over last night to make the invitations...160 of them!  It was so fun and they are almost finished.  Here's a look at the design.

The bride wanted a different alphabet for the initials and we ended up just having the ribbon wrap around and get glued to the back of the initials piece rather than knot it.  The ribbon is what holds the invitation closed, and it easily slides off so their guests can open the inviataion and see the details.

The top part folds up and the bottom part folds down to open it up.  On the top flap they put one of their engagement pictures printed in black & white...it was such an awesome picture of them in the coulees! And, on the bottom flap they made a pocket to hold all the "stuff" that goes out with wedding invitaitons.  The middle section has all the wedding info.

I think they turned out great and everyone loved them!  Kella & Ryan...I wish you both a long and happy life together!
